Mayo's enduring path through the gruelling qualifiers for the third year in a row begins in earnest in the Gaelic grounds in Limerick tomorrow. We do not know a whole lot about our opponents but if other results are anything to go by Mayo could and should have quite a bit to spare against the Treaty County.

The recent Bank Holiday weekend saw time off for the majority of teams across the county, with the exception of Castlebar Celtic’s visit to Ballina Town in the Westaro Cup and the Super League clash of Iorras Aontaithe and Westport United.
In the Westaro Cup quarterfinal clash at Belleek Ballina Town proved too strong for Celtic with a comprehensive 4-1 victory. The visitors took the lead after half an hour, despite losing Jason Hunt to an early red card, when Cathal Coyne put them ahead. The second-half was all Ballina however, as Duane Helly, Dylan McKee, Brendan Lavelle, and Jamie Cawley struck to send Town into the last four.

Ballina Town stretched their lead at the top of the Elverys Sports Super League table after another comfortable 3-0 win over Ballyheane on Sunday morning. Benny Lavelle scored his 10th league goal of the season to give Mick Duffy’s side the lead and Fabinho Macario made it 2-0 before the break. Dylan McKee added a further goal in the second half to move them three points clear of second place Straide & Foxford United who they meet next in the next round of the league.
