A 22-year-old Castlebar man who was found lying on his back in the middle of a public road in Castlebar was convicted and fined for being intoxicated in a public place at Castlebar District Court on Wednesday.
Thomas Derrig, 25 Rowan Drive, Castlebar, was detected on December 12 2008 at 3.40am lying flat on his back in the middle of a road in the Knockthomas area, where he appeared to be asleep.

A 20-year-old man with 67 previous convictions was sentenced to six months in St Patrick’s Institution by Judge Mary Devins at Castlebar District Court on Wednesday, after the Ballinrobe man was convicted of five criminal damage charges, theft, and the unlawful taking of an MPV.
