Fisheries Board appeals for vigilance following fish kills

Recently three fish kills occurred across the region, which are an indication of the current sensitivity of fish due to the low water levels and elevated water temperatures which make fish very vulnerable to any discharges to watercourses or siltation arising from riverside works. The North Western Regional Fisheries Board is therefore appealing for vigilance from the public in relation to fish kills.

Credit unions opposed to unreasonable control

The Irish League of Credit Unions is deeply unhappy with the proposed amendments to the Central Bank Bill 2010 as set out by the Minister for Finance last week. The ILCU feels that the Minister for Finance and the Registrar of Credit Unions are attempting to control credit unions in an unreasonable way which will ultimately mean that credit unions will be unable to assist their members as they have done in the past.
