As part of its bicentenary town celebrations during 2012, Clifden in Connemara is hosting Philip Littlejohn, who will give a Titanic lecture to commemorate the town’s historic link to the Titanic via Jack Phillips (Titanic's senior radio operator) who worked at the Marconi Transatlantic Radio Station (1909 -12), which was located three miles south of Clifden.

Dreams are part of all of our lives. They show a level of subconscious functioning of the mind that clearly serves an important role in our overall wellbeing. This workshop is for counsellors and psychotherapists - its aim is to help tease out how to use dreams as a resource for counselling/psychotherapy clients and indeed hopefully benefit personally from the learning too. Mayo native Gerry Hegarty has recently taken up the position of Student Affairs Manager at IT Sligo, having previously worked with the Citizens Information Board as Senior Manager, Services Development with responsibility for ICT, website development, training & development, quality, social policy, and HR & Governance.
A native of Charlestown Co Mayo, Mr Hegarty spent most of his career in the public sector where he worked in a number of roles, including positions in the Department of Social Protection in the Internal Audit Unit and State Pension Scheme divisions.

More than 250 students travelled to the Linenhall Theatre, Castlebar, last week to attend EirGrid’s inaugural schools’ science programme Understanding Electricity - From Power Station to PlayStation. The show, which was held during Engineers Week, is based on the Junior Certificate science curriculum, with particular emphasis placed on practical experience and audience participation.
