During lockdown last year, Garda Olive Lafferty and Deirdre Waldron, Manager Castlebar Voluntary Social Services, came up with the idea of socially distanced music events for the elderly in the community as a way to try and alleviate loneliness and let older people know the community is still thinking of them.

Deputy Ring stated: "Rathnamagh National School, Crossmolina, has been granted funding for access works at the school. I am pleased that this funding has been allocated to Rathnamagh National School and I hope that the work will commence shortly."

Michael Ring TD has called on the RSA to immediately address the huge backlog in the waiting list for both theory tests and driving tests. He said: "I am inundated with calls from people whose theory test has been postponed again and again – even as high as seven times. This is simply unjust. The RSA is holding up a whole sector of society and preventing them from driving and possibly obtaining work.

Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI), the state agency responsible for the protection and conservation of freshwater fish and habitats, has today issued an alert, asking the angling community and general public to report any sightings of Pacific pink salmon. The call in Mayo follows most of the Pacific pink salmon captured in Irish rivers in 2017 and 2019 being on the River Moy, Mayo.
