American doctor dies at base of Reek

A gynaecologist in his forties who was based in Chicago died as he began climbing Croagh Patrick on Tuesday. Dr Thomas Connolly, who was accompanied with his wife, Dr Kim Connolly, and a number of others, collapsed and died at the statue of St Patrick as he started his ascent around midday.

The Ulster Bank GAA Force Roadshow travelled to Castlebar Mitchels GAA Club on Wednesday night, where some 250 Mayo GAA fans took part in the evening’s activities. The event featured a panel discussion and questions and answers session with RTÉ pundit and Kerry GAA legend Pat Spillane, former Mayo players Liam McHale and Martin Carney, and current Galway stars Joe Bergin and Finian Hanley. The event was MC’d by Newstalk sports commentator David McIntyre.

Due to time constraints, Castlebar pantomime cannot audition anyone who has not registered between 10.30am and 11am or accommodate anyone who has to leave early prior to their audition time being called.

The results of a national survey, conducted by DHI Hair Restoration about the level of hair loss experienced by Irish men, have highlighted that 51 per cent of young Connacht men (under 30) claim to be experiencing hair loss. The survey also revealed the extent of the psychological impact of male hair loss, with 24 per cent of those surveyed in Connacht claiming that their confidence is badly affected, particularly in social situations due to the issue.
