Castlebar benefits from €1.4m BMW Regional Assembly grant

The fourth payment totalling €267,785 has been issued to Mayo County Council by the Border, Midland and Western (BMW) Regional Assembly towards the Castlebar town centre regeneration project. This project has revitalised Castlebar through a programme of town centre regeneration and streetscape refurbishment. Also this grant has facilitated the development of a riverside walk developing Castlebar’s amenity corridor.

Achill adventure hub proposal gaining momentum

A proposal to develop an adventure hub for Achill Sound is being progressed by Comhlaht Forbartha Áitiúil (CFÁA) and includes plans for a tourism hub, a multi-purpose indoor training facility, a children’s play area, car park, retail outlet, café and audio visual facility.

AIB hike a major blow for thousands of Mayo homeowners

Thousands of hard pressed mortgage holders in Mayo have been hit with yet another blow following the news that AIB is to hike up its mortgage interest rate by another 0.5 per cent. Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary has said the decision is further evidence that the banks and the Government have completely abandoned fraught mortgage holders.

Council to loose out on €641k funding despite reaching targets

Despite having a collection rate for the Household Charge in excess of what the Department of Environment have said is needed in order to avoid any cuts in the 2012 Local Government fund, Mayo County Council is still going to be down €641,589 on its allocated funding this year.

Welcome for assurances over payments to health insurance companies
