Images of Mayo will be beamed into the homes of millions of Americans next spring, courtesy of Tourism Ireland. Filming for two different TV shows took place here recently, when Irish-American sisters and TV personalities Catie Keogh and Colleen Kelly – both based in Chicago visited with their crews.
The sisters were here to shoot two programmes around The Gathering Ireland, which will air in spring 2013. Catie is the host and executive producer of the popular show 24/7 Chicago on NBC. Barrett states, "I am calling yet again for this stretch of path to be provided for the families living along the Curradrish Road. The families living on this road are in the urban area and are as entitled to a path as any other community living in town. I will put this issue as a notice of motion for the next meeting of the council and I expect it to be supported. In the meantime, I will ask that a temporary verge dressing be applied, that the scrub is taken away, and that a temporary surface dressing is applied to allow a safer walkway for people.”
