Book of evidence served for Claremorris burglary

A Castlebar man was served with the book of evidence for an alleged burglary and criminal damage offence in Claremorris last year. Sgt Regina Curly gave evidence of serving the book to Mark Maughan, 25 Viewpoint, Castlebar before Tuesday morning’s sitting of the court.

Not last call for struggling Mayo publicans as flexibility shown by Revenue

Pubs and other businesses in Mayo who are struggling to remain open due to difficulties in obtaining a tax clearance certificate when their tax payments are in arrears received some good news this week. Fine Gael TD for Mayo, Michelle Mulherin, has welcomed assurances provided to her by the chairman of the Revenue Commissioners that increased flexibility is being shown to businesses which are having difficulty getting their tax clearance certificate. As things stand, the Revenue Commissioners require a 40 per cent lump sum payment up front from businesses that are having difficulty paying. Revenue may now reduce this 40 per cent figure on a case by case assessment.

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister of State Michael Ring will be among the 19 Government emissaries representing the country abroad during the upcoming St Patrick’s Day celebrations. The Taoiseach will be travelling to the United States where he will have the traditional St Patrick’s Day meeting with President Barack Obama, he will also be meeting Vice President Joe Biden while in Washington DC, where he will also make a keynote address at George Washington University where he will receive the university’s Making Democracy Work Award.

€314,000 for creative Mayo projects through the Arts Council
