Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has stated that the case for the Western Rail Corridor is strong. He was responding to Mayo Deputy Alan Dillon who raised the issue of the long-awaited development of the Western Rail Corridor in Dáil Éireann recently.

Mayo Sinn Féin TD has hit out at the government and TDs in Mayo for 'pushing through a ban on turf as we face into winter during and a cost-of-living crisis'.
Deputy Conway-Walsh said: “Sinn Féin brought forward a motion to scrap the turf ban back in April that Fianna Fail and Fine Gael TDs in Mayo voted against despite claiming to oppose the ban. It was another example of some TDs playing opposition in the constituency and voting with government up in Dublin.

Fifteen individuals and groups will be honoured at the 28th Mayo People of the Year Awards gala function in Breaffy House Hotel, Castlebar, on Friday November 11. The event is organised annually by Mayo Rehab, Mayo County Council, and The Connaught Telegraph, with the funds going to the provision of services for Mayo Rehab. The function will be compered by Teresa O’Malley of Midwest Radio and Henry Mcglade of iMayo TV and music on the night will be provided by the Brose Walsh Band.
