The magic of Disney comes to life on stage

What do Snow White, Cinderella, and Belle all have in common? Apart from being princesses in three of Disney’s classic fairy tales that have warmed the hearts of generations, this month their stories will be brought to life on stage in the Royal Theatre for six magical shows. Disney Live! Three Classic Fairy Tales is about to touch down in Castlebar for the first time, having taken the globe by storm, Castlebar will soon be enchanted by these tales.

Feld Entertainment’s production of these magical stories will bring the stories of Snow White, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast to the stage in one amazing two hour spectacular. According to Sara Maulucci, who plays Snow White, dreams do come true, like they have for her. “Ever since I was three years old and went to Disney World, I said I wanted to be a Disney princess and my mother thought I was mad, but I’m living that dream every day on stage,” she said.

Mayo dance group stepping their way to success on Glas Vegas

Na Céimeanna Beaga dance group who are made up of Tommie McHale (Ballina), Louise Dunne (Westport), Ronan Kelly (Ballaghaderreen), Liadh McGrath (Pullathomas), and Jamie Reape (Enniscrone) made it through the semi-final stage on Glas Vegas, the popular talent show on TG4 last Sunday night. They are now one of the final four out of the original 900 acts who started the competition. These young dancers are having an amazing time and are attracting a lot of interest as they dazzle audiences with their intricate steps. They will have to perform two new routines and these will be devised by their teacher Sylvan Kelly of the Sylvan Kelly school of dance. You can look forward to some more breathtaking dancing during the final of the current series of Glas Vegas which will be broadcast on TG4 at 8.30pm next Sunday. The show will be repeated on Tuesday at 11pm.

Soul duo return to the decks for a special one night show

DJs Johnny and Finbar launched their first soul night in Rowlands Bar way back in 2006. They were relative newcomers to the soul scene in Castlebar although Finbar Hoban had made his DJ debut back in 2001 in the Humbert Inn, which had also seen the likes of DJs Dave Barry and Uggie Horkan take the role of serving up some splendid soul and northern soul nights back at the turn of the decade.

Royal Theatre hosting poker tournament this weekend

Ladbrokes brings its first poker tournament to The Royal Theatre, Castlebar, this weekend Saturday March 27 and Sunday March 28. This will be a Mayo ranking event and there will be a big demand for places in what promises to be a great weekend of poker.

Spellbinding duo to perform at Áras Inis Gluaire

As part of Music Network’s April classic tour, virtuoso guitarist Xuefei Yang and cellist Natalie Clein will be performing in the Áras Inis Gluaire centre in Belmullet on Thursday, April 29 at 8.30pm. Natalie Clein’s remarkable talent first came to the world’s attention when, aged 16, she won the BBC’s Young Musician of the Year award. Since then she has won a classical Brit award and performed with many of the world’s finest orchestras and chamber music ensembles.
