Celebrate World Book Day

The author of a new book, The Curious Case of the Mayo Librarian, will tell the story of how in 1930 the post of county librarian in Mayo caused the abolition of the county council and created a heated national debate about the role of Church and State.

The library will also put on display, for the first time, the minutes of the hugely acrimonious council meeting that led to the controversy. The talk will take place on World Book Day March 5 at 7.30pm in the Castlebar Library. All are welcome.
