Man with two names fined for driving and criminal damage offences

A man who appeared on the court list for Claremorris this week under two different names was convicted and fined for motoring offences and criminal damage. Peteris Liseckis, who also goes by Janis Tisanous, of 4 College Road, Boyle, Co Roscommon, pleaded guilty to all charges in court.

Garda Donal Raffertry told the court that on March 15 2008 he stopped a car being driven by Liseckis at 10.13pm in Claremorris and demanded that Liseckis produce his driving licence and insurance certificate within 10 days. Liseckis failed to produce either. Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Liseckis €600 for having no insurance and disqualified him from driving for one year. She also convicted and fined him €150 for having no driving licence.

Garda Michelle Nolan told the court that on September 20 2008 she was on duty in Claremorris and noticed the back window of a car had been broken. On further inspection she saw Liseckis sleeping in the back of the car and on the floor beside him were two rocks that had been used to break the window. Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined him €250 for criminal damage and ordered him to pay €78 compensation for the window and €50 witness expenses.
