Taoiseach welcomes €50,000 for Castlebar Social Services

The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, has welcomed the grand of €50,000 to Castlebar Social services. The money is part of the National Lottery funding from the Department of Health.

Mr Kenny commended all those who give their time to this organisation on a daily basis saying: "This organisation is a very important amenity for Castlebar. I visited the centre myself some weeks ago and was hugely impressed by the good work that goes on there almost 365 days a year. They provide a fantastic service for the elderly population of the town and help so many individuals and families."

The money was granted by the Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar, along with €20,000 for Ballyhaunis Western Care, €45,000 for Brickens Housing Association, and €200,000 for Hope House in Foxford. The Taoiseach visited Hope House recently as did Minister Leo Varadkar during the Fine Gael National Conference which was held in Castlebar. He said he hoped to visit the two other associations in the near future.
