€235,200 from National Lottery grants for Mayo

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny has welcomed the announcement of funding awards totalling €235,200 for six organisations in Mayo.

The funding is awarded by the Department of Health, using National Lottery grants, and it will be very beneficial to the successful organisations.

These organisations undertake substantial work in their local communities and this additional funding will ensure their excellent work will continue into the future.

The funding awarded to the six organisations throughout Mayo is as follows: €50,000 for Castlebar Social Services; €200 for Kilmaine Active Retirement; €100,000 for Hope House in Foxford; €45,000 for Brickens Housing Association; €20,000 for Castlebar Men's Shed; and €20,000 for the Western Care Association, Ballyhaunis.

The funding awarded totals €235,200 on this occasion and it is expected there will be a further round of funding later in the year.

The Department of Health operates a National Lottery discretionary fund, under which it can provide one-off grants to organisations for the provision of health related services.

The fund is aimed at community groups and voluntary organisations operating in Ireland providing health services to specific client groups.
