Irish TV to broadcast two-hour Mayo Day show from Castlebar

Westport based TV channel, Irish TV, is to broadcast a live, two-hour entertainment programme from the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, to celebrate the first ever Mayo Day on May 2.

The programme, to be broadcast on Sky channel 191, will be a celebration of Mayo and its heritage, culture, and people.

The show will contain a mix of performances, music and chat in a gala-style setting and is being organised in association with Mayo County Council.

It will feature a star-studded line-up of performers and well-known Mayo people, including An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, who will deliver a live address on the night.

The night will be hosted by broadcaster, lecturer, and Carnacon native Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin, who said she is delighted to be involved in showcasing the “beauty, energy and vibrancy of Mayo to the world”.

The live broadcast will be shown on the Irish TV channel on Sky 191 between 8 and 10pm on Saturday May 2.

Tickets for the event are on sale now on www.ticketmaster.ie (€20 inclusive of booking fee ) with all proceeds going to local Mayo charities.
