Mayo need to bounce back against Cork on Sunday

The Mayo minors threw-in on their 2013 season last Saturday and tomorrow they will be in action in their third game in seven days. Enda Gilvarry’s charges will head to Tuam to take on Galway in the third round of the Connacht Minor League at 5pm tomorrow evening.

In their two games so far, Mayo have beaten Longford in round one, before they lost out to Roscommon by two points in Kiltoom on Tuesday evening.

Gilvarry had only two surviving members of the side that started last years All Ireland minor football semi-final to call on in his opening two games, with Balla’s Barry Duffy and Ballaghderren’s Sharoize Akram starting both games, with Duffy lining out in midfield and Akram at centre-half forward. In both games so far Gilvarry has started 12 of the same players, with goalkeepers Ken Brennan and Paul Walsh each starting a game each and Paul Lmbert along with Eoin McGrath swapping place in the half-back line and Colm Moran and Conor Igoe both getting a chance to impress in the number 13 shirt.

Mayo will have two more games in the league after this weekend with Leitrim coming to Ballaghaderreen on Saturday, April 4 and Mayo making the short journey to Ennicrone to take on Sligo on Saturday, April 11 in round five of the competition. Mayo will open up their defence of the Connacht Minor Championship on Saturday, July 4 against Galway in Elverys MacHale Park.
