Supercars roaring into Ballina for Canonball festival

More than 160 supercars, worth as estimated €25 million, are roaring into the Quay Village, Ballina, tomorrow at 12.30pm for the first Canonball stopover in the town.

The Quay Village is to come alive in a riot of colour, noise, music, and entertainment - and of course, a display of some of the world’s fastest and most beautiful cars, for Canonball 2014.

As well as supercars, there will be movie-themed cars, American monster cars, and wacky vehicles.

The theme of this year’s Cannonball is ‘American Movies’ and all proceeds from tomorrow’s car festival go to the Make-a-Wish foundation.

A number of family friendly festivities are also taking place including music, face painting, a bouncy castle, search and rescue demonstrations, kayaking, and an aircraft display.

The cars will depart the Quay Village at 3.30pm, travelling in colourful convoy along the River Moy, up Pearse Street, and out the Foxford Road on their way to Galway.

To facilitate the large crowds expected, park and ride facilities will be in operation, with shuttle bus services every 15 minutes from Creggs Road/Sligo Road, Riverslade/Boxing Club, and Market Square/Harrison’s Bar.

Spectators are advised to arrive early.
