‘An exceptional year’ for young Knockmore pony champ

There’s a rising equestrian star in Knockmore, Ballina.

Young Ciaran Nallon has just been crowned a European show jumping champion at the recent FEI European Pony Championships, held in Mill Street Cork.

The 12-year-old is getting ready to start secondary school in Foxford on Monday so these are very exciting times for the equestrian champ, mum Sandra told the Mayo Advertiser.

“This is a massive, massive achievement for Ciaran,” she said. “We are all thrilled to bits.”

Ciaran has been riding since he was just five-years-old and is trained by his father Richie.

He competed in the 128 centimetre category at the championships, which were held in Cork between July 29 and August 4, riding a pony called Silver Legend.

“It is a very appropriate name because he has been a legend all year for him,” added Ms Nallon. “This has been an exceptional year for Ciaran and this is certainly his biggest achievement to date.”

The best of luck to Ciaran in his future equestrian career from all at the Mayo Advertiser.
