New Glasgow Celtic exhibition opens in Straide

A new exhibition exploring the strong links between one of Mayo’s greatest patriots and the birth of Glasgow Celtic Football Club has opened at the Michael Davitt Museum in Straide.

Yvonne Corcoran Loftus, supervisor at the museum, said they owed a ‘debt of gratitude” to Glasgow Celtic, who kindly donated a host of exhibits on Davitt’s association with the famous soccer club.

The Straide museum is also hosting the County Library’s Davitt exhibition this summer and has welcomed a third new exhibition on Davitt’s association with the GAA.

All three new exhibitions are proving “extremely popular” with museum visitors, said Ms Corcoran Loftus.

The museum is open seven days a week. Phone (094 ) 9031742 for more information.
