Castlebar DJs launch colourful ‘selfie’ campaign

Two Castlebar DJs have come up with a fun campaign to put the ‘selfie’ phenomenon to work to raise funds for specially trained dogs that help transform the lives of children with autism.

Johnny Oosten and Katie Hughes, both DJs with local radio station CRCfm, are encouraging people all around Ireland to don their county or club colours, take a selfie photograph, and share it with their family and friends by posting it on their Facebook page.

People who take part in the Wear Your Colours for Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland then text AUTISM to 50300 to donate €4 to the charity, which provides highly trained assistance dogs for children with autism and their families.

The dogs, which cost €15,000 to train, provide safety, independence, and companionship to children who would otherwise live in a very isolated world.

Everyone who donates to the campaign is also in with a chance to win one of 32 short breaks in Ireland.
