Castlebar joint policing committee

A joint policing committee is currently being established for the Castlebar town area with a meeting being arranged for Wednesday January 14 for all those interested in being nominated to the committee.

The function of the policing committees, which are being established throughout the country, is to serve as a forum for consultations, discussions, and recommendations on matters affecting the policing of an area.

Each organisation who attends the meeting, must be registered with the County Community Forum and can nominate one of their members to be selected for the committee — three people in total will be nominated. Should there be more than three people nominated, an election will be held on the night with each organisation present having one vote.

It is hoped that community and voluntary organisations in Castlebar will be represented at this important meeting. For further information contact Declan Turnbull, Mayo County Council, on 094 902 4444.
