Almost €1 million allocated for housing units for the elderly in Foxford

Funding of €975,000 was announced this week for the provision of eight housing units for the benefit of the elderly in Foxford. The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Housing and Planning, Jan O’Sullivan. The funding for the project has come from the Capital Assistance Scheme and has been allocated to the St Vincent de Paul, which is an approved housing body. The proposed development will be constructed at Irishtown on the Swinford road in Foxford.

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny welcomed the announcement saying: “This funding of almost €1 million will provide eight newly constructed housing units for the elderly in Foxford and it represents an important investment in housing for the Foxford area. It will create a number of construction jobs during the building phase, and once completed, the new development will serve as a vital piece of housing infrastructure for the St Vincent de Paul. The development will also assist in allowing elderly persons to remain in the comfort of a home environment for as long as possible, and represents a welcome investment for the local area.”
