Mayo properties going under the hammer

A number of Mayo properties are going under the hammer at an Allsop auction in Dublin on February 25.

Altogether, 12 Mayo properties are included in the auction including a car park at Cavendish Lane, Castlebar, with a reserve price of between €270,000 and €300,000, and a commercial development in Market Square with a reserve price of between €350,000 and €395,000.

A retail warehouse at Moneen Industrial Estate, Castlebar, has a reserve price of €180,000 while an office property on Thomas Street could go for €55,000.

A residential development at Bowgate Court, Ballinrobe, comprising 15 residential units has a reserve price of €100,000.

Two Westport properties will go to the highest bidder on the day. They are a home in Gloshpatrick, Murrisk, with a reserve price of €150,000, and a house at the Fairways with a reserve price of €110,000.

More than 190 properties are for sale at the auction on in the RDS, Dublin, which starts at 9am on Tuesday, February 25.

The total reserve on the properties is €27 million, a record breaking figure for an auction in Ireland. The true value of the properties will only be decided on auction day when bidding begins.

At an Allsop auction in December, a retail unit at the N5 business park in Castlebar sold for five times its reserve price, while a site at Slievemore in Achill with a reserve of €15,000 went for €18,000.

At the same auction, a bungalow and former pub at Clogher, Claremorris, with a reserve of €20,000 achieved €45,000 at yesterday’s auction.

Allsop director of auctions Robert Hoban advised would-be buyers, sellers and other interested parties to arrive early at the RDS, sayin there was a huge level of interest ahead of the auction.

“Our February auction is one of a series of very successful auctions, the last of which took place in December. The December sale resulted in €24 million in sales from 140 properties, which broke the then Irish record. We look forward to breaking more records this month.”

Mr Hoban re-iterated the Allsop pledge that no repossessed family homes would be sold at any of their auctions.
