Activities at Old Head this weekend

As part of the development of the Blueway initiative, watersports activities will be provided for beginners and improvers, adults and children, at Old Head Beach on Sunday August 18 starting at noon and continuing until 5pm.

Local activity providers Adventure Islands, Adventure West, and Westcoast Climbing will provide the equipment, instruction, and the fun on the day. You just need to arrive with your swimming togs, a towel, and a smile. Delphi Adventure Company will also be in attendance on the day.

Each activity is for beginners and improvers and they will last between 45 minutes and an hour. These activities are for adults and children at the significantly discounted cost of €10 per person. Pre-booking to 087 362 7828 or email: [email protected]. Booking is strongly advised as spaces are limited for each activity session.

Old Head is one of five selected Blueway locations on the west coast of Ireland (Achill Island, Inishbofin Island, Killary Harbour, Mannin Bay and Old Head ). Each Blueway has been identified as an attractive safe location for a variety of watersports at beginner to intermediate level.

The Blueway initiative is supported by: Canoeing Ireland, Failte Ireland, Galway County Council, Forum Connemara, Irish Underwater Council, Leave No Trace, Mayo County Council, South West Mayo Development Company. The Old Head Blueway Try it Day is possible due to the support of the Mayo Local Sports Partnership and in particular the activity providers Adventure West, Westcoast Climbing, and Adventure Islands.
