The Learning Curve Institute will again deliver its highly popular Leaving Cert French and Spanish oral courses on in Mayo Education Centre, Castlebar during the Easter holidays.
Liam Printer, Head of Language Department at the Institute, has developed a multi-platform approach to language learning and revision for the Leaving Certificate, based on small class sizes and innovative language learning methods.
“Students nowadays are bombarded with notes, tips and chunks of material to learn off by heart to get ‘better marks’. The core aim of these one-day oral courses is to get them speaking. For a full day the students are immersed almost entirely in the target language and the small groups of just 12 students allows them to speak to one another and develop their confidence,” commented Mr Printer.
The Learning Curve Institute takes revision a step further by collecting pre-course questionnaires from each student to ensure the material covered on the course reflects their precise needs. Students will each have an opportunity to complete a short mock oral exam with Mr Printer and will receive detailed personalised feedback along with tips and pronunciation hints aimed at maximising their marks on the day of the exam.
These courses routinely fill up well in advance so early booking is essential. The Spanish course will take place on Saturday March 30 with French scheduled for Saturday April 6. Each course runs for a full day from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
