Mick Hanley was recently speaking on the John Murray radio show on RTE1 about the state of the nation and how difficult it was to get communities together and keep them upbeat in recessionary times. One obvious way of doing this was to put on a concert. “I thoroughly enjoy playing in small villages, getting the locals together and trying to put a smile on their faces,” he said. This was ‘music to the ears’ of the Lecanvey Community Centre committee who had been thinking of putting on a concert for a while. The committee approached Mick Hanley to see if he would put on a concert in St Patrick’s Church in Lecanvey and he said he would be delighted. The fundraising concert will go ahead tomorrow evening, Saturday, December 15 at 8.30pm.
The Sancta Maria School Choir have agreed to commence proceedings at 8.30pm followed by Mick Hanley at 9pm. Tickets are €12.50 and will be available at the door, Stauntons Pub, Lecanvey, or from any committee member.
