Mayo north Gathering Christmas card now on sale

With plans for the Mayo north Gathering festival progressing well, organisers are asking local people to avail of a novel way of inviting their overseas friends and relations to the festival which will run from August 1 to 9, 2013. A distinctive Mayo north Christmas card, featuring a picture of a snow covered Nephin and Lough Conn, is now on sale at various outlets throughout the region as well as from the Tourist Office in Pearse Street, Ballina.

Councillor Frances McAndrew, who had put forward the idea of the Christmas card, said it was great value at just 50 cent. As well as publicising the festival, she felt that emigrants from the Mayo north area would appreciate getting a locally produced card with a distinctive local landmark such as Nephin.

Local TD Michelle Mulhern, who is strongly supporting the festival, also asked people in the Mayo north area to send the card to their overseas friends and relations. She said the card was a great way of letting people know about the festival and asked them to consider visiting this area next year.

A public meeting on Mayo north Gathering will be held in the Downhill House Hotel, Ballina, tomorrow (Saturday ) at 11am. The meeting will provide an update on plans for the festival and an opportunity for representatives, especially from outlying areas, to get involved by organising events or by making planned events part of the festival programme.
