Knock Shrine experienced its busiest day of the year on Wednesday when between 15,000 and 20,000 attended the annual novena entitled Eucharist and Life.
It is expected over the nine days of the novena that up to 150,000 could visit Knock Shrine.
The novena opened on Tuesday at 3pm to a homily delivered by Castlebar Curate Fr Pat Farragher.
For the duration of the novena there will be two daily sessions, at 3pm and 8.30pm.
On Tuesday night thousands of pilgrims set out from all parts of the region on foot to make it to the shrine for early morning Mass on Wednesday.
Fr Benny McHale was the guest speaker on Wednesday with Baroness Nuala O’Loan speaking yesterday (Thursday ).
Today (Friday ) Fr Michael Drumm, chairperson of the Catholic Schools Partnership, Maynooth, will give a talk entitled What makes a school Catholic, while tomorrow (Saturday ) the theme is The Eucharist as Prayer.
On Sunday the Most Rev Christopher Jones, DD, Bishop of Elphin (Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage ) will tackle the subject Eucharist Forms Community while on Monday the focus will turn to The Eucharist - A Project of Solidarity for All.
On Tuesday next week the Parish Priest of Knock, Fr Richard Gibbons, talks about Eucharist and Renewal while on Wednesday of next week Archbishop Charles Brown, Apostolic Nuncio, discusses the future of the Church in Ireland.
