More than fifty music acts to entertain Westport this weekend

It has arrived! The first Westport Festival of Music and Performing Arts is taking place this Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24.

Big musical acts are to take to three stages over the coming days: Ray Davies, The Waterboys, Imelda May, Seasick Steve, Jools Holland with special guest Marc Almond, Macy Gray, Alison Moyet, Horslips, Nick Lowe, The Chieftains, Eddi Reader, Beth Orton, The Dubliners, Tom Baxter, Damien Dempsey, Eric Bibb, Lloyd Cole, Hothouse Flowers, Mundy, Duke Special, The Undertones, Royseven, Ryan Sheridan, The Walls, The Minutes, The 4 of Us, Jerry Fish, Wallis Bird, David Kitt and many, many, more.

Apart from the amazing music, there will be plenty of bars on site and the amazing Taste of Westport Food Village serving up an abundance of fresh, delicious, local produce to suit all tastes and all very reasonably priced.

Children are welcome to enjoy the Pirate Adventure Park for free, there will be no additional cost for this and there will be plenty of workshops and happenings to keep them entertained throughout.

Park and Ride facilities are available before coming into Westport; just look out for the signage. Also, in the last few days, permission has been granted for a pop-up campsite. You can reserve your tickets in advance at www.ticketgroup.ie The temporary pop-up campsite is located on the Golf Course Road, which will be sign posted as you enter Westport town. The site will be open from noon on Saturday June 23 and closes at noon on Monday June 25. As this is a temporary campsite, be aware that facilities are limited to toilets, lighting, and security. If you have a campervan, take note there are no power points available. Ticket prices are as follows: €20 per person per day, €30 per person for the weekend, and €10 per car (limited availability ).

If you have not got your tickets yet, you can still purchase from the usual outlets and also from The Fáilte Ireland Tourist Office on James Street in Westport. You will also be able to purchase tickets on the day at the two main entrances to the festival on Church Lane and the Quays.
