The Irish Blood Transfusion Service launched a new campaign which aims to increase public awareness of blood types and to encourage donors to bring their friends or “buddies” along with them when giving blood.
Reduced donation levels in recent weeks have reduced blood supplies to an average of four days across most blood groups. The preferred level being seven days.
Paddy Bowler Director of Operations, IBTS said: “We are urging people who are eligible, to please give blood over the coming weeks and months and to encourage friends and family to join them.”
