'Forgotten Objects' Primary School Competition 2012

The winners of the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life 'Forgotten Objects' Primary School Competition 2012 have been announced.

A total of 197 entries were received and included ‘forgotten objects’ such as horseshoes, old photographs, gramophones, helmets, coins, typewriters, a World War One medal, a high Nelly bicycle and a Bosco doll to name a few. In the written category poems and short stories were received, as well as a mixture of paintings, drawing, collages, and photographs in the art category .

Mayo winning pupils were as follows:

Written Older

First prize - Siofra McHale, sixth class, St Peter’s NS, Snugsboro, Castlebar, Co Mayo.

Second prize - Caoimhe Berry, fourth class, Ballintubber, NS, Claremorris, Co Mayo.

Art Younger

Second prize - Finnian John Berry, Senior Infants, Ballintubber NS, Claremorris, Co Mayo.

Art Older

Second prize – Alison Ryan, third class, St John’s NS, Breaffy, Castlebar, Co Mayo.
