Podium finishes for Mayo athletes

Mayo AC continued their recent impressive run of podium positions in

two local races on Saturday last. At the Rosses Point in the 8k, the third race Sligo Road League, Catherine Conway made a winning return to racing but had only three seconds to spare in a close finish with Aisling van Rensberg (Sligo AC ). Pauline Moran was fourth and first over 50 in an impressive 33.34 to continue her brilliant season.

TJ McHugh has not wasted all that marathon training since his disappointment in Rotterdam last month, as he ran a fast 26:51 for third place in the men's race, to add to his 6 mile time of 33:13 in Limerick last week. In the Ballina Half Marathon John Byrne finished second in the men's race, three weeks after the World 100k in Italy, he was led home by Ballina AC’s Michael Canty. Sarah Syron matched his performance with second place in the women's section to Dervilla Holmes of Donore Harriers who was the winner.
