National hunger strike exhibition for Claremorris

Thirty years on from the famous Long Kesh Hunger Strike of 1981, in which 10 Republican prisoners died, an exhibition on the subject will be hosted in the Dalton Inn Claremorris on Saturday November 5.

The exhibition includes original documents, photos and memorabilia from the period as well as a comprehensive chronology of a hugely significant time in modern Irish history.

The exhibition will also feature Mayo hunger strikers Sean McNeela, Michael Gaughan and Frank Stagg. The exhibition will be open to the public from noon and will conclude at 7.30pm with a talk by a former hunger striker. Everybody is invited and admission is free.
