Woman tried to attack her ex

A woman who was threatening and abusive and failed to comply with the direction of a garda was before Ballina District Court on Tuesday.

At 3.45pm on October 17, gardaí were called to a disturbance at St Muredach’s Terrace, Ballina where Fiona Killeen, 1 Hill Street, Ballina was observed in the middle of the road. She was roaring and shouting at women who were on the footpath. Killeen then ran towards her ex-partner, who she tried to attack. Gardaí then intervened. The defendant was directed to leave the area but failed to do so.

Killeen, who represented herself, apologised for her actions. The defendant, who has no previous convictions, said she was fighting about her child, who is currently in care.

Judge Mary Devins said that fighting in the streets would not help the defendant to get her daughter back. Judge Devins applied the Probation Act.
