Digital media seminar in Castlebar

A seminar on digital media and creative industries in Mayo will take place on Wednesday September 29 next in the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, from 2pm to 5pm. This forms part of Mayo Ideas Week, the objective of which is to highlight the trends and opportunities for new enterprise in some of the industry sectors which show potential for growth in Co Mayo.

The seminar will be hosted by Mayo County Development Board and WESTBIC. “This seminar will focus on the trends and the commercial opportunities in digital media and the creative industries, for entrepreneurs and professionals in Co Mayo,” said John Coll, director of community, housing, and integrated development with Mayo County Council, who will chair the event. “We are trying to offer a chance to those who may have a background or interest in digital media and creative industries, to hear the latest trends and developments in that sector, delivered by people with a high level of expertise in their field, and a forward view of where their sector is going.”

Paul Cummins, CEO, Telegael will outline his experiences in running an international digital entertainment company from the west of Ireland, and his advice for those interested in this sector. There will also be contributions from Mayo-based professional artists such as musician and composer Emer Mayock, and writer Morag Prunty.
