Rathbawn area stream for clean-up

Fine Gael Leader, Enda Kenny, TD, has welcomed confirmation from the Office of Public Works that work will be carried out on the stream in the Rathbawn area of Castlebar.  The main area of concern relates to the section running adjacent to the footpath on Rathbawn Road and is now included in its maintenance programme.  Deputy Kenny said: “I welcome this confirmation from Dr Martin Mansergh, TD, the Minister with responsibility for the OPW following my representations on behalf of local residents.  I will continue to monitor the progress that is made on cleaning the stream and hope that work will proceed as soon as possible.  I welcome that work has commenced on some areas of the stream which runs underground in some parts.”
