Climb a Mayo mountain for good health and charity

Arthritis Ireland is encouraging people from Mayo to Pick a Peak to climb on July 24 next to help bridge the services gap for young people with arthritis. More than 50 teams from all over Ireland are expected to pick a peak in their own area to climb at the same time to raise money for this life changing charity.

According to Arthritis Ireland people of all ages live with arthritis every day, but it can be particularly difficult to come to terms with this condition in early adulthood. The organisation provides support and information sessions on issues including work, relationships, pregnancy and lifestyle helping young people take back control of their lives and making a real and lasting difference to the quality of their lives.

“Pick a Peak is a great fun day out for all the family. Every year people of all ages and all fitness levels, from novice walkers to intrepid explorers, dust off their boots and take a hike to show their support for Arthritis Ireland” said Nichola Mullen, head of fundraising and communications with Arthritis Ireland. “You can pick any peak, anywhere, any time, whether it’s a hill in your town that you’ve an affinity to, or a mountain you’ve always wanted to climb”. So, take the first step of this challenge and contact Arthritis Ireland on 01 6618188.

Suggested peaks in Mayo include Ben Gorm, Buckoogh, Nephin, and Slievemore. For further information contact Arthritis Ireland on 01 661 8188/www.arthritisireland.ie or email [email protected].
