Finbar Hoban presents a fundraising night for Castlebar skate park

In association with Skate Park for Castlebar, Finbar Hoban Presents is organising a night of music in Bar Ritz tonight (Friday ) starting at 9pm. Local bands will play free of charge to help raise funds for the Castlebar skate park campaign.

The skate park campaign was started in February 2010 after John Faherty saw the need for a skate park in Castlebar. The campaign has received great support from young and old. Thanks to local councillors, a motion for the Castlebar Town Council was put forward in March and the council agreed to provide a site and build a skate park. The ball was well and truly rolling. The benefits would include bringing people into Castlebar from all over Ireland for competitions. It would be an added attraction to the town and these sports are gaining popularity. There are skate parks popping up all over Ireland, they are catering for the people who like alternative sports. These parks are giving young people a challenging environment to learn a new sport, to socialise and meet new people. These sports are also easily accessible to people from all classes as they are not expensive.

What better way to kick off our fund-raising than with a show from up-and-coming local bands KMCG, On Pain of Death and Strayed. It should prove to be a great night so go along and show your support for Skate Park for Castlebar Campaign and also see some great local bands who will be playing on the night.
