Shirtless drunk man held up traffic

A man who was found drunk and topless, roaring and shouting in the middle of the road after a night out, was before Ballina District Court this week for being threatening and abusive.

Anthony Langdon, 25 The Hawthorns, Killala Road, Ballina, was observed by Garda Rebecca Fearon on May 3 2010, after midnight, holding up traffic in the middle of Emmet Street. The intoxicated man was roaring and shouting at his uncle and trying to swing at his uncle.

A fight was also taking place down the road where 50 people had gathered. The defendant pushed past Garda Fearon and ran towards the row.

Langdon, who has no previous convictions, was directed by Judge Mary Devins that his €60 cash bail go towards the Special Olympics Committee.
