Drunk man refused to leave Dunnes

A man who, while drunk, fell into clothes rails in Dunnes Stores and refused to leave the store, was convicted and fined at Ballina District Court on Tuesday.

On March 2 2010 at 6.50pm, Garda John Barrett received a call from staff in Dunnes Stores, Ballina, that James Collins, 68 Riverside Drive, Quay Road, was drunk and refused to leave the store.

Garda Barrett went to the scene and observed that Collins was laden down with clothes from the store and observed him fall against clothes racks. The defendant refused to leave when directed.

Collins, a married, father of one, who has no previous public order convictions, was convicted and fined €200 by Judge Mary Devins.
