€300,000 sanctioned for Mayo flood relief works

The Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey has allocated €300,000 for flood relief works to Mayo County Council.

The Minister confirmed the allocation last Friday when he met with Deputy Beverley Flynn, Councillor Margaret Adams, and Cllr Michael McNamara, who outlined for him the extensive damage caused by the floods and landslides of last July.

The allocation will go to repairing the damaged roads in Srahmore, Newport, Glenisland, and Tourmakeady.

In welcoming the announcement Dep Flynn said that the flood damage had caused severe disruption to the local communities, and she thanked the Minister for making the allocation.
