Mayo live register drops

One hundred and eleven people dropped off the live register in the county last month, with 13,046 signing on in March 2010 in comparison to 13,157 in February 2010.

The majority of those on the list were males (8,732 ) in comparison to 4,314 females. In both sexes, those over 25 years of age were the highest category which was unemployed.

The biggest decrease in the live register was in Claremorris which saw figures drop from to 1,413 from 1,471, while Ballina also saw 39 people come off the register (3,227 from 3,266 ).

There was an increase in people signing on in the Belmullet area which rose in the last month to 1,033 from 1,005 listed in February 2010. Castlebar also saw an increase of 18 more people sign on, with 2,349 now unemployed in the county town.
