Supermarket trip leads to fine

A father of six who double parked his van on a corner while his wife popped into the supermarket was convicted and fined at last week’s sitting of Swinford District Court.

On November 23 2009 at 12 noon gardaí observed a Hiace van double parked on a corner on Market Street, Swinford, which blocked the traffic flow. An on the spot fine was issued to the driver, Tom Maughan, 25 Knoxville Manor, Bellaghy, Charlestown, however the fine was not paid.

Maughan, who has previous road traffic convictions, was convicted and fined €100 by Judge Mary Devins.
