Drink driving summonses struck out for illegibility

Judge Mary Devins struck out summonses relating to drink driving, careless driving, and dangerous driving charges at Claremorris District Court on Tuesday due to the fact that the summonses were illegible.

The judge said that “this has to be the worst day” for the number of “illegible” summonses which were before the court. Superintendent Padraic O’Toole concurred that these summonses were barely legible, put reiterated the point that this is not a Garda issue but it is an issue with the Central Administration Processing Unit which issues summonses.

Judge Devins asked “is it the cutbacks?...is there no ink in the printers.”
