Claremorris train station is fighting it out to be named the best station in Connacht. The two other competitors are Athenry and Sligo, and the winner will be considered for the coveted title of Best Station in Ireland.
This year victory will be all the more sweet for the winner as the decision was made by their customers through a text and email poll. Almost 2,000 people voted as part of the competition. Customers were asked to rate their station under the following criteria: customer information, staff appearance, staff helpfulness, and station appearance. Athenry, Claremorris, and Sligo scored highly in all categories.
The awards will be presented at a gala ceremony at Iarnród Éireann’s training centre at Inchicore on February 25 next. A special celebrity guest will be there on the day to add to the festivities.
