FG recognise Paddy Cannon for life-long service to the party

The Fine Gael party recently recognised the life-long service of Paddy Cannon, Westport Road, Castlebar, to the Fine Gael organisation. Mr Cannon was presented with a commemorative Michael Collins photograph to mark the occasion at the recent annual general meeting of the Henry Kenny, Castlebar, Fine Gael Branch. At the meeting, Mr Cannon was also elected to the position of honorary president for the local Fine Gael branch.

The elected officers of the branch include Seamus Moylette, chairperson; Brendan O'Dowd, secretary; Pat McGinty, treasurer; Vicie Rowan, PRO.

“Paddy has played a huge role in the local Fine Gael organisation over the past 54 years and I think it is a fitting occasion to recognise the level of support that Paddy has demonstrated,” Deputy Kenny said. “His involvement in local politics has only grown stronger over the years and I am delighted to see him appointed to the position of Honorary President of the branch named after my late father. I wish to take this opportunity to thank Paddy for his continued support to this day from when my father was first elected to represent Mayo south in 1954.”
