Fundraising campaign for Westport Town Hall is progressing well

A local fundraising campaign in Westport to raise money for the Westport Town Hall is progressing well, with the project expected to go to tender in spring of this year.

During the monthly meeting of Westport Town Council Noel Kavanagh, chairperson of the restoration committee, outlined that the fundraising campaign has raised 80 per cent of the local contribution target of €500,000. According to Mr Kavanagh 845 householders have subscribed to the direct debit of €10 a month for 36 months or have paid a total of €360. Seventy six businesses have also paid subscriptions.

Mr Kavanagh said that the project is hoped to go to tender in spring of this year with work commencing on the €2 million re-development of Westport Town Hall in June.
