Thrown away school books results in fine

Two school books which were illegally dumped led to a hefty fine for a mother after she appeared before Ballina District Court this week.

Litter warden of Ballina Town Council, Josephine Armstrong, investigated a complaint on July 27 2009 regarding illegal dumping in Ballysakeery, Killala.

Two school books belonging to the son of Donna Muldoon, 82 St Patrick’s Estate, Ballina, were found in two rubbish bags. A total of eight rubbish bags had been discarded in the area.

The married mother of four was convicted and fined €300 by Judge Mary Devins and also ordered to pay a €300 contribution towards costs.
