Local groups benefit from over €160k from C&C Cellular

€160,000 has been raised for local groups by C&C Cellular, with management from Mid West Radio, in a recycling mobile phones campaign for defibrillators along with a recent Charity Ball held in Breaffy House Hotel last weekend.

A total of 51 community groups from Mayo, Galway, Sligo and Roscommon are receiving 54 defibrillators, and proceeds from the Gala Ball yielded money which is to go towards worthy causes, with Mayo Cancer Support Association and Mayo Women’s Support Services being the main beneficiaries, each receiving €24,708.85.

Other beneficiaries of the money are: The Cormac McAllen Trust (€2,000 ); Mulranny Order of Malta (€1,000 ); Autism School Swinford (€1,000 ); Gina Heraty Haiti Fund (€1,000 ); Carmelites Lourdes Fund, Castlebar (€1,000 ); Ballina Community Centre – Meals on Wheels (€1,000 ); Duchenne Ireland (€1,000 ); MS Ireland – Sligo branch (€1,000 ); Greater Chernobyl Cause (€1,000 ) and the Oncology Education Fund also received €1,000.

Commenting on the campaign, C&C Cellular’s Brendan Chambers stated: “This was a worthwhile exercise not only as a model fundraiser but also as an indicator of what real co-operation can achieve. There were some groups who had difficulty reaching the final stages of the quota. Other groups who had exceeded the quota passed on the surplus. The business sector was supportive when approached. Not alone are we raising much needed funds but we are also helping the environment by removing hazardous waste from landfill.”

C&C Cellular is now looking to the future and want to Turn more Trash into Cash. We hope that in the following months to come that you will join us in this magnificent campaign by donating a phone for recycling or by putting a box in your office to collect phones for local charities.
